Prithvi- Movie

Went to one more movie this year. This time it was Puneet Rajkumar’s Prithvi. It is a brave and a good decision by Puneet to accept the movie. It takes on the establishment, the government and more importantly the Bellary Reddy brothers. It is makes an obvious political statement without naming.
Movie itself is very well made straight to the point, direct, fast paced, story line is minimal, but very relevant and contemporary. It us on illegal mining, people problems because of this, political manipulation, most important encroachment of Karnataka by mining barons. Movie is fast paced doesn’t bore with commercial elements or unnecessary sentiment though there is lots of opportunity, Jacob Verghese has done a very good job. Puneet has acted well; director has presented him in at very refined and subtle way. Every actor play their part well. Photography is very good. Songs could have been better. Off course there are couple of songs and a fights director could not help it I guess.
Liked the movie for its content, execution and relevance. It does not bore or beat around the bush or become crass or jingoistic with message

Saving a little child

Had taken family and friends to a club with swimming pool on 1st May 2010, it has 2 pools one for kids about 2-3 ft and other for adults about 4 ft deep. My children and 1 and ½ yrs old nephew were playing in the children’s pool. Children were going crazy in the little pool. The life guard was near the adult’s pool.
I was taking photos of my children, suddenly a child came running and slipped into the pool. I dint bother because it is such a shallow pool and nobody could get hurt in that. The kid started wailing only then I looked at it. It went down came up again went down, there were other children around the kid watching. It went down the second time and was not able to stand then I realized thing was something going wrong and child was starting to drown. I immediately went down to my knees and grabbed the shirt with one strong pull, the child was out of water. I put it on the side of the pool. No caretaker of the kids was around, and then belatedly his mother came running and admonished him for being naughty.
Actually everybody was watching but nobody thought anybody could drown is such a shallow pool. Feels good I could help the child out.
