Best thing about the car is when people stop ogle at signal lights, people overtake and turn back to have second and third look. It has the killer looks. The Linea tag line Admiration guaranteed can as well be used for Punto. It is masculine without bring macho. Bought a Punto emotion model it is 1.4 L model with ABS.
Car is is beauty to drive very comfortable, the shock absorbers are made for Indian roads take almost any bump or pothole in it is stride without feeling to much. It is comfortable to drive ergonomically designed. It is solid the doors the boot and hood give solidity, not the thin gauge. Don't have to shift gears to often can be in third gear from 20 to 60 can start on second gear it does not shake and rattle like other cars. It is not a sprinter, 0- 15 kmph is slowly taken once you hit it really responds to accelerator changes. This protects the engine the max wear and tear is maximum between 0 and 20. This also helps in mil age.
FIAT has really has done a great job with eye for details. the comfortable steering wheel, with all the controls simple and easy to access. the trip button is a good innovation. give av speed mileage, instant consumption and av consumption. This you will have take with a pinch of salt, seems it is based on mathematical calculation.
Foldable car key is another nice feature. It is very convenient to keep the key with out projections. It has advances computer based engine disable security feature. You have a security code without which it cant be duplicated.
The car interiors are elegant with 2 colour grey and black. Seat are extremely comfortable with nice seat cover designed for Punto. There are spaces on doors to hold things, 2 dashboard pace holders with neat smooth curves without any jarring edges.
It can comfortably accommodate 5 adults. people often exclaim it is a big car inside. The boot space is huge. The Blaupunkt music system is great. Very clear and delight to listen to. Well it is Blaupunkt you so have to much to complain. It comes with 6 speakers all embedded in doors. The rear speakers are in the door to protect ears of people sitting behind. The boot space this way is not compromised. People would want a thunderous bass have to still buy a separate music system. Looks it is neat, no flashing lights may disappoint most Indians.
Exteriors the way people look at it is enough indicator. The sleek aerodynamic design is a delight for the eyes. The lights and indicators are new and unique again shows eye for details. The red color and the great fit and finish is simply great.
I am getting a mileage of 11-12 kmpl with mix with ac on for 40% of the time in dense peak hour traffic. This mileage is actual it is more than the indicated mileage.
Well cound any ting be better, not really FIAT has done a superb job of the vehicle. If I really want some better, The dials dials are neat and very practically, may be it could have been better, same thing with the music system.
Servicing FIAT has it own engineers and the TATA manages the sales and service, felt sales was as good as it could get from Prerana motors. Don't have to worry too much about servicing because recommend servicing is once in 15000 kms that is you have to go to service station may be once in 15 months, there is on call 24 hrs servicing.
Overall it is a awesome vehicle, extermly happy I choose it over other cars.

My good old car
Bought my green Maruti std model on 3-apr-00 for 165000. Number KA 01 P 502, This decorated car took me as groom to the kalyana mantapa. Served me very well without major problem. Though it used to embarrass me when using LPG. Have spend just 70000 in maintenance for 9 years of usage which is dirt cheap. Add another Rs 3000/year on insurance and another 5000 for the accident I paid for the getting the Balero repaired.
Bought it from a garage near Jain college. Was working with MICO then. Meter reading was slightly above 35000. Dint not spend a paise after that apart from fitting the LPG. Had met with an accident while driving in rain, was wiping the fog didn't realize that the MUV was standing at the signal and rammed it from behind. That cost me 15000 for both vehicles was working with convergent software. Had given it to Prasanna when I went to China.
Last couple of years I went to local unauthorised service center. It hardly broke down after that. Changed battery twice once in 2003 and later in Nov 2008. changed tyres once in Dec 2001 at 45000 kms reading. When i sold on 08-aug-09 it was 118600 kms.Had driven to once BR hills and Mysore and 3 to 4 times to kadri. Sale was Swift, quick and unexpected. Had checked with couple of dealer before offer was Rs. 35000 to Rs. 40000. Went to Prerana to check of Fiat's Grande Punto. The salesman asked what was holding back. Sale of old car. The sales person offered me 40K. I said was expecting 50 to 55K. The guy said if I am selling today it is 47K. I said fine. Earlier in the day the suspension had starting making noise while driving on smooth road. Last trip was to shave Vihaan head near Doddaballapur.
Found it little difficult to handover the keys of the car. But thought it is only a material not a person. Told the guy Kiran I wanted to drive one last time, drove from Prerana motors on Lalbagh road to Sridhar's home. Felt slight bad when the guys drove the car off.

Andrew Flintoff - It is no silly point
Was watching news on an India English channel. It showed the statements made by English cricketer and final branded him RACIST with a stamp on this photos. It was a case of media going overboard. All the mainstream news media carried it promptly.
What were the statements made by him.
If he calls up hospital and he cant communicate in English. Well he should be worried no English in England. What is wrong with this? Where is the racism in this?
He worried about his kids, he should be English kids are drinking earlier than ever, 10-12 yrs old start drinking and have sex soon. Any parent better be worried. Racist what ??
He thinks rap is one of the causes for it and a source for rebellion and violence. Shortsighted if he thinks that is the only reason, am not a mind reader, but not sure if he blaming Rap music for all ills. This may be a prejudice against rap, but racist unlikely to who hear the lyrics if possible.
I think Indians are going overboard with this racist thing after Australian attacks

Trip to Waynand Kerala
The difference…
Went on a trip to Wayanad, Kerala with family in a hired a Qualis for the trip. Booked a home stay by name Waynad Blooms, it is plantation converted to home stay on edge of the forest. Chose an executive hut, it is elevated hut with a view of forest in Sultan battery. It was a striking difference as we entered Kerala. The trees came closer to road, the reserve forest also is commercialized full of bill boards with ads for resorts. The towns itself are very similar to each other the shops come close to the road. You can feel the denseness of the population. The roads are well marked and clean, with hardly any plastic bags seen on road side which is contrast to the dirt and plastic seen in Karnataka and other states. There is hardly any visible poverty in terms old huts, people in rags, few beggars. In fact I saw vehicles stopping at zebra crossing letting people cross at places without police or signal light.
Watch out for….
The tourism is well developed every small place is hyped and glossy brochure printed. In fact this will take people out for ride. Need to be selective of places one should choose. Each supposedly tourist attraction is at quite a distance take 1- 2 hours to travel once you go there you realize it was not worth coming or people need to trek viz. falls, Eddakkal caves. If you have kids or old people with you it is tough on them. Watch out for the distances people and even the street signs are misleading. You safely multiple by 2. If it is 15 kms you can safely assume it is 25-30 kms.
Govt. employees manning tourist spots need to learn to be friendly. You get a feeling that that they feel they are doing us a big favor of letting us see places especially if you are from other states.. They don’t smile they talk only Malayalam, some people to my surprise speak Kannada and not English, Hindi or Tamil. Guess it is the border influence. This is sharp contrast to people in home stay or even people on street.

At Chennai airport
Just saw 2 guys standing up in the airport when national anthem was played on TV during cabinent swearing in ceremony.. One was still talking on telephone while standing another had a crew cut looked like a guy from defense.
Cant belive that there are some people do this. But I felt they felt odd that very few people stood up.
Lot of white girls ans few boys in sarees and kurtas respectively. Girls look cute. Looks like students. They are promptly making notes in their travel diaries. They are wirting it so neatly and densely.
I would anytime trade my laptop to travel like them.
A young nerdy looking couple in love brushing their shoulders against each other. Ideal for fevicol ad.
A father 3 cute daughters was wondering why there were 3 girls.
Probably trying for a son, Things dont change that easily do they ???
Trying to connect after 3 months. The BSNL wi fi still does not connect…
The security lady is well made up with manicured nails more like the hostess of airlines, only that she is in camouflage uniform contrast looks good :-)

Child labour, whiskey, snob and color of blood
Being a fan of Arsenal and Ferrari plus tracking Royal Challengers supposedly the Bangalore team, lots of disappointments in last 2 weeks for teams in red.
Arsenal may go without silverware this season too. They were never in running for PL title, lost to Chelsea in the FA. The performance in CL first semis doesn’t inspire too much hope for entering the finals. Though very talented bunch of kids probably will become word class but right now looks like they can’t stand up to the toughies in PL. Half the team seems injured most the timeL. They still lack the cutting edge in front and back of the field. Cesc, Theo and Ashravin seem to have brought the sense of solidity in centre. Let me hope as usual that they would win next year.
Ferrari seems directionless this season after the change in rules. Diffuser, KRES, yet all, it is confusing. My bet is they will eventually catch up this year but may not win either driver or constructors championship. Next year they will back at the top.
RCB was thought to have shed its Test image but results are only slightly better. They possess one of the most talented sides, new and expensive captain. Things continue to go wrong. Well hope AK will be better luck than KP or RD. No amount of analysis will help to find what the problem is. The problem is with name; you can’t name a team after whiskey and expect team to win. They can only be challengers not winners. There is no passion in the team or supporters. How can you expect passion when you can’t relate to the image it has. Other teams have a local flavor in their promos. Here you have a sardar and K Kaif in their video. How can we relate to team which doesn’t not think of Bangaloreans/kannadigas. Others have their own team to support.
Being a fan you always have next season to hope for.
